French Open 2017: Thursday Schedule and Predictions for Roland Garros Bracket
The top half of the men's draw and the bottom half of the women's draw of the 2017 French Open will be in action on Thursday as the second round continues.
Andy Murray will headline the former as he takes on Martin Klizan, while Stan Wawrinka will face Alexandr Dolgopolov. Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori will also feature against Konstantin Kravchuk and Jeremy Chardy, respectively.
In the latter, second seed Karolina Pliskova plays Ekaterina Alexandrova, while Tatjana Maria will need to produce something special if she's to progress past Simona Halep.
Roland Garros' official Twitter feed shared the order of play on Courts Philippe Chatrier and Suzanne Lenglen:
Play will start on all courts from 10 a.m. (BST). For the schedule in full, visit the Roland Garros website.
Andy Murray vs. Martin Klizan
Murray got his French Open campaign off to an inauspicious start on Tuesday as he needed four sets to come through against Andrey Kuznetsov.
Metro's George Bellshaw noted his struggles in the second set as the Russian caused him problems:
However, as the 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 scoreline suggested, Murray improved fairly dramatically in the latter part of the match and looked much more like his usual self.
Eurosport UK showcased some of his excellent play:
The Scot has only met Klizan once, beating him in Austria last year.
The Slovakian needed five sets to beat wild card Laurent Lokoli, so provided Murray does not get off to a similarly poor start on Thursday as he did in his opening match, he should be able to win fairly comfortably.
Prediction: Murray to win in straight sets
Stan Wawrinka vs. Alexandr Dolgopolov
Wawrinka came through the first round in straight sets as he beat qualifier Jozef Kovalik, 6-2, 7-6 (6), 6-3.
Roland Garros shared highlights of the contest:
Per the tournament's official website, the Swiss star hit 38 winners over the course of the three sets, albeit his 33 unforced errors could be cause for some concern.
The 2015 French Open champion is a force to be reckoned with on clay, but Dolgopolov has the edge in their head-to-head meetings having won two of their three matches against one another.
Wawrinka should nevertheless progress, but the Ukrainian could take a set off him along the way.
Prediction: Wawrinka to win in four sets
