Mitchell Trubisky Says Mike Glennon Still Bears' Starting QB

Mitchell Trubisky may be the starting quarterback of the future for the Chicago Bears, but the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NFL draft said Mike Glennon is still the team's starter in 2017.

During his introductory press conference in Chicago on Friday, Trubisky left no doubt he believes Glennon is the Bears' starting quarterback. 

“I haven’t talked to Mike yet but I’m very excited to work with him and the rest of the quarterbacks here," he said, per Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith. "Mike is the starting quarterback and I’m very excited to learn from him and the rest of the veterans on the team and I can’t wait to help the Bears win."

Bears general manager Ryan Pace also addressed the potential quarterback controversy, noting Glennon is their starter. 

“There’s no quarterback competition when Mitch gets here,” Pace said, per JJ Stankevitz of Comcast SportsNet Chicago. “Glennon is our starting quarterback. We’ll focus on Mitch’s development and Mike Glennon winning games for the Chicago Bears.”

After cutting ties with Jay Cutler, the Bears invested in Glennon during free agency. He got a three-year deal worth $15 million per season, though NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted it's basically a one-year deal so Trubisky can learn behind the veteran in 2017. 

The Bears made a bold move with the San Francisco 49ers, swapping first-round picks and sending a third- and fourth-round pick this year and a 2018 third-round pick to jump one spot to draft Trubisky second overall.
