Eagles Fan's Sign Thanks Vikings for Round 1 Pick Received in Sam Bradford Trade

Andrew GouldApr 27, 2017

With Philadelphia hosting this year's NFL draft, fans will eagerly await the Eagles' turn with the No. 14 pick on Thursday night.

Last year, they traded their 2017 first-round pick (No. 12) to the Cleveland Browns for the No. 2 overall pick and selected quarterback Carson Wentz. That allowed Philly to deal incumbent starter Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings, who lost Teddy Bridgewater to a torn ACL shortly before the season began.

Minnesota paid a hefty price—its 2017 first-rounder and 2018 fourth-rounder—for Bradford, who accumulated 3,877 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns and five interceptions. Yet the Vikings finished 8-8 despite a 5-0 start, resulting in a valuable draft selection for the Eagles.

Eagles fans have not forgotten the origin of the 14th pick. One supporter wielded a sign thanking the Vikings. In his throwing hand, Bradford carries a plate holding the draft card, and the "O" in "Minnesota" makes way for a mocking emoji.

Bradford stayed healthy and posted a career-high 99.3 quarterback rating, but the Eagles will much prefer to add another talented rookie with Wentz under center.
