Tottenham U23 Coach Ugo Ehiogu Hospitalised After Collapsing at Training Ground

Tottenham Hotspur's under-23 coach Ugo Ehiogu has been hospitalised after he collapsed at the team's training ground on Thursday.

Spurs confirmed the news on their official Twitter account and provided further details about the incident:

The former England international defender has been working with Spurs since 2014 having enjoyed a successful playing career.

Ehiogu spent nine years at Aston Villa between 1991 and 2000 before he joined Middlesbrough for a seven-year stint at the Riverside Stadium.

Villa were quick to wish him well on social media as the news broke, as were the England national team, who Ehiogu represented on four occasions:

So did former England striker Stan Collymore, who played alongside the centre-back at Villa Park:

Before he hung up his boots in 2009, the 44-year-old, who started his career at West Bromwich Albion, also spent time with Leeds United, Rangers and Sheffield United. 

During his peak years with Aston Villa, Ehiogu was rated as one of the best centre-backs in the division. The defender helped the team to two League Cup successes, making in excess of 300 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Ehiogu won the same trophy again at Middlesbrough in 2004, giving the north-east side the first major honour in the club’s history.

His Tottenham under-23 team are having a decent season in the 2016-17 Premier League 2, sat in sixth place with just two games remaining.
