A Look at My Fantasy Basketball Rosters The First Six

Steven ResnickOct 11, 2009

I've been playing fantasy sports for a while now. I do all of them baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and even some of those pick-em ones for college basketball or college football. I didn't participate in the pick-em this year though.

So, far I've been lucky in my drafts in the players I have drafted. Although, it's interesting to see who goes and who doesn't go and what's avaliable in later rounds especially with the number of people in your fantasy league.

The first league we're looking at is the only one I'll mention in regards to the players. This one is one that I got invited to join by Mike Kent for people on Bleacherreport to join. All my teams are named Warriors.

Note the number is for the actual pick that I took them at not their actual ranking!

First team:

Brandon Roy (9) who wouldn't want Roy on their team he can shoot the ball and he passes well for a shooting guard.

Dwight Howard (16) I can sacrifice free throw percentage because most of the others are solid free throw shooters. Howard will get me the rebounds I need since most of the guys I drafted were guards.

Carmelo Anthony (33) he's not ranked very high in yahoo draft circles even though he's really improved his game. He's actually ranked 34th in the yahoo rankings.

Monta Ellis (40) I had to grab him he should have a huge year especially if Stephen Jackson is traded

Anthony Randolph (57) Should help me out on rebounds, he'll score he may have off nights shooting but I don't mind because he can blocked shots and get to the free throw line as well.

Trevor Ariza (64) He's actually ranked in the 90's in yahoo fantasy sports but I took him for his defense and I also believe he'll increase his scoring this year as well.

T.J. Ford (81) He's in their for his ability to distribute the ball.

Allen Iverson (88) I know he's injured but he could provide instant offense for Memphis.

DeMar Derozen (105) The rookie is looking to be a starer for the Raptors he could provide good offensive numbers.

DeJuan Blair (112) I'm hoping he gets some minutes with the aging Tim Duncan. Blair is a big body who can rebound the basketball.

Corey Maggette (129) Instant offense gets to the free throw line and shoots very well from the line.

Aaron Brooks (136) Hope he comes into his own his speed and his ability to shoot the three are going to be crucial for him.

Samuel Dalenbert (153) Is apparently going to be more involved in the offense this year in Philadelphia we will see.

Anthony Morrow (160) Three point shooting and free throw percentage he should see more minutes this year especially if Jackson is traded.

C.J. Watson (177) good steady backup point guard who can hit the three.

Eddy Curry (184) dropped Curry for Taj Gibson. Gibson gives effort and could be a major factor off the bench for the Bulls with his energy and defense.

Second Team:

Brandon Roy (7)

Deron Williams (10) Assists, increased free throw percentage, just hope injuries don't get to him this year.

Kevin Martin (23) Scorer and is the Kings best player.

Baron Davis (39) Hoping he has a better season this year needs to pick up his game shooting wise and distributing the ball.

Anthony Randolph (42)

Stephen Jackson (55) Hoping he can fix his attitude and contribute.

Paul Millsap (58) Rebounds basically any offense from him is a plus.

Russell Westbrook (71) Athletic defender could be very effective this year especially if he improved his jumper.

DeMar Derozan (74)

Jermaine O'Neal (87) hoping he can remain healthy and contribute.

Andrei Kirilenko (90) defense, rebounding, and any scoring is a plus from him.

Trevor Ariza (104)

Samuel Dalenbert (106)

James Harden (119) Should be a tremendous scorer

DeJuan Blair (122)

Marcin Gortat (135) Hope he can get off the bench for at least a few minutes.

Peja Stojkavoic (138) If he can reclaim his starting spot that would be great he can shoot the ball and is a solid free throw shooter.

Team Number 3:

Brandon Roy (8)

Kevin Durant (9) His scoring ability his ability to hit the three for a very high percentage and still his game is growing.

Joe Johnson (24) His scoring ability and ability to distribute the ball.

Monta Ellis (25)

Baron Davis (40)

Kevin Martin (41)

Jameer Nelson (56) Another great shooter and hopefully he'll become an even better distributor.

Anthony Randolph (57)

Paul Millsap (72)

Andre Miller (73) If he fits in with the Blazers he could bring his assists per game up.

Russell Westbrook (88)

Stephen Curry (89) shooting ability and has been quite impressive in the preseason.

Demar Derozan (104)

James Harden (105)

Jermaine O'Neal (120)

Team Number 4:

Lebron James (1) Self explanatory

Jose Calderon (24) Shooting ability and doesn't turn the ball over.

Monta Ellis (25)

Baron Davis (48)

Stephen Jackson (49)

Jameer Nelson (72)

Paul Millsap (73)

Trevor Ariza (96)

DeMar Derozan (97)

Samuel Dalembert (120)

James Harden (121)

Andray Blatche (144) Hoping he has a great season he should make a difference on the defensive side and any offense is just icing on the cake.

DeJuan Blair (145)

Anthony Morrow (168)

Ryan Andereson (169) Hoping he gets some minutes in Orlando because he can flat out shoot the basketball.

Jrue Holliday (192) In the running for the starting spot at point guard for the 76ers.

C.J. Miles (193) He was going to be my sleeper pick now he's injured.

Team Number 5:

Brandon Roy (9)

Carmelo Anthony (16)

Baron Davis (33)

Monta Ellis (40)

Jameer Nelson (57)

Anthony Randolph (64)

Trevor Ariza (81)

Luis Scola (88) Should average a double double this year with Yao out for the season.

Corey Maggette (105)

Johnny Flynn (112) Has looked impressive can dish the ball and make free throws.

DeMar Derozan (129)

Julian Wright (136) starting small forward for the Hornets could provide solid defense.

Andray Blatche (153)

Nick Collison (160) got him for rebounding purposes

DeJuan Blair (177)

Taj Gibson (184)

Jrue Holliday (201)

C.J Watson (208)

C.J. Miles (225)

Marresse Speights (232) rebounds and some scoring off the bench

Antoine Wright (249) hope he can crack a lineup or be a sixth man can score when he needs to

James Jones (256) three pointeres made

Sasha Pavlovic (273) three pointers made

Team Six: This is basically the only draft I miss so it was basically autoselecting the players.

Chris Paul (1) Best point guard in the NBA

Joe Johnson (24)

Carmelo Anthony (25)

Monta Ellis (48)

Baron Davis (49)

Anthony Randolph (72)

Russell Westbrook (73)

Jermaine O'Neal (96)

DeMar Derozan (97)

Corey Maggette (120)

James Harden (121)

Taj Gray (144) I selected the wrong Taj, but picked up the right one.

Dejuan Blair (145)
