Tyreke Evans Reportedly Agrees to 1-Year Contract with Memphis Grizzlies

After a whirlwind 2017, Tyreke Evans is setting up shop with the Memphis after agreeing to a free-agent contract on Friday. 

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Evans and the Grizzlies agreed to terms on a one-year, $3.3 million deal. 

Evans started last season with the New Orleans Pelicans before being traded to the Sacramento Kings in February as part of the blockbuster deal for DeMarcus Cousins.

It was a homecoming of sorts for Evans, who started his career in Sacramento and played with the organization for four years. He had a successful 14-game return with the Kings, averaging 18.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per 36 minutes, per Basketball Reference.

Last year saw Evans take on a role primarily off the bench. He was limited to 40 games following knee surgery and lingering problems from the previous season.

After playing a combined total of 65 games the past two seasons, Evans should be used as a sixth man moving forward to protect his knees. He also turned into a more efficient player during that stretch, shooting 36.9 percent from three-point range.

As long as Memphis doesn't ask Evans to take on more than his body can physically handle at this point in his career, he will be a valuable offensive asset for the duration of his contract.
