Manchester City rescued a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the first leg of the FA Youth Cup final at the Academy Stadium on Tuesday.
Ike Ugbo gave the Blues a precious lead on the stroke of half-time, but Phil Foden's effort gave the Sky Blues hope ahead of the second leg at Stamford Bridge.
City controlled possession through midfield in the opening exchanges, but Chelsea's power-game began to have an effect on the contest as the first-half action unfolded.

Foden almost gave the hosts the lead as his long-range effort veered off target, but City were stung as Ugbo found the net.
Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi reacted quicker than his marker to find the goalscorer, with Ugbo finishing with aplomb.
The FA provided footage of the goal:
City came out motivated in the second half, and they clearly believed they didn't deserve to be a goal behind at the interval.
Chelsea dug in and made life difficult for the hosts, intent on defending their slim lead rather than looking for a killer blow.

Sky Blues goalkeeper Aro Muric was in impressive form, denying Chelsea on the few occasions they broke through the defensive line.
Jadon Sancho's clever play gave City the lifeline they craved ahead of the return match, and the 17-year-old expertly found Foden.
Foden exploded forward with confidence, and the academy talent slotted his effort home to the delight of City's supporters shortly after the hour mark.
Once again, the FA provided footage of the effort:
City thoroughly deserved their equaliser, and the game is finely balanced before the sides meet at the Bridge for the second leg.
