Joseph ZuckerApr 17, 2017

Dash Wilder suffered a broken jaw at an NXT live event, WWE announced Monday.

Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin reported Wilder might be out until early July.

According to the Internet Wrestling Database, Wilder last wrestled Friday in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He teamed with Scott Dawson in a loss to Hideo Itami and Shinsuke Nakamura.

"On Friday night, following an in-ring injury to the right side of his jaw, we sent [Wilder] to the ER for a cat scan," Dr. Jeff Westerfield said in an interview with WWE.com. "The test came back showing a jaw fracture. As a result, he will be getting his jaw wired, and we are looking forward to him being back on the main roster in about eight weeks."

The injury comes at a bad time for the two-time NXT tag champions.

They made a big impression when they debuted the night after WrestleMania 33 to defeat The New Day:

The Revival earned another victory over The New Day last week on Raw:

With The New Day moving over to SmackDown Live as part of the WWE Superstar Shake-up, The Revival were poised to be one of the top teams on WWE's flagship show. Instead, Dawson will be on his own for the next few months.

The silver lining of Wilder's injury is that Dawson could shine individually in a way that he hasn't been able to since The Revival grew in popularity. Any success Dawson enjoys would then build more anticipation for Wilder's return.

An early July timetable for Wilder should still put them on track to compete at SummerSlam, which is Aug. 20 in Brooklyn, New York.
