Monte Carlo Masters Draw Results 2017: Seedings, Brackets and Twitter Reaction
Andy Murray will not face Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic before the final of the 2017 Monte Carlo Masters should the Scot go all the way after the two were drawn into the bottom half of the bracket.
The duo have combined to win every edition of the tournament except one since 2005, with Stan Wawrinka victorious in 2014. Wawrinka has been handed the third seed and would be a possible semi-final opponent for Murray, with Marin Cilic possibly on the schedule the round before.

Here are the seedings for the tournament:
| 1 | Andy Murray |
| 2 | Novak Djokovic |
| 3 | Stan Wawrinka |
| 4 | Rafael Nadal |
| 5 | Marin Cilic |
| 6 | Dominic Thiem |
| 7 | Jo-Wilfried Tsonga |
| 8 | Grigor Dimitrov |
| 9 | Tomas Berdych |
| 10 | David Goffin |
| 11 | Lucas Pouille |
| 12 | Roberto Bautista Agut |
| 13 | Pablo Carreno Busta |
| 14 | Alexander Zverev |
| 15 | Albert Ramos-Vinolas |
| 16 | Pablo Cuevas |
Murray hasn't seen the court since he suffered an elbow injury in Miami and enters the clay season with plenty of question marks. He was always unlikely to earn a meeting with any of the top guns early, but the Brit still can't be happy with his draw.
The likes of in-form Tommy Robredo, Gilles Muller, Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Philipp Kohlschreiber are all possible opponents ahead of the quarter-finals, where Cilic or Tomas Berdych would likely await.
Muller and Robredo will face off in the opening round, and either could be quite the challenge, per BBC 5Live's David Law:
In comparison, Nadal's path to the quarter-finals looks relatively easy, and with Grigor Dimitrov struggling of late, the Spaniard seems destined to once again advance to the semi-finals of a tournament he has already won nine times.
His first opponent will be either Kyle Edmund or Dan Evans, who will meet for the first time on the ATP Tour. Sports writer Chris Goldsmith couldn't help himself:
Rising star Alexander Zverev could present a serious challenge for the Spaniard, who has quietly started the 2017 season in very good form and seems primed for a dominant clay campaign.
Per the ATP's Jonathon Braden, Nadal believes his form is almost at the optimal point: ''I think I am close to what I need to be. I am at a very high level of tennis and I believe I am ready to win titles. I'm playing well enough to fight for everything. I have good hopes that I'm going to be ready for Monte Carlo...If I am ready for that, I think I am very excited about playing back on clay again.''

Djokovic is expected to make a smooth run to the semi-finals despite his spotty form in 2017. He looked the part in his return to action in the Davis Cup, and the schedule for the early rounds in Monaco doesn't look particularly daunting.
Gilles Simon or Malek Jaziri will await in the second round, with the likes of Pablo Carreno Busta and Fabio Fognini possibilities for the following rounds. In the quarter-finals, Djokovic could face Dominic Thiem or David Goffin.
Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios and Kei Nishikori have all pulled out of the tournament.
