Florida Center T.J. McCoy Struck by Alleged Drunk Driver in Hit-and-Run
Florida Gators center T.J. McCoy was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck in a hit-and-run accident involving an alleged drunk driver early Friday morning.
According to Thomas Goldkamp of 247Sports, Gainesville, Florida, police said McCoy and his girlfriend were riding a scooter when they were hit. McCoy's girlfriend was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car that struck McCoy, 22-year-old Samantha Meldrem, was arrested after fleeing the scene and performing poorly in field sobriety tests, per Goldkamp.
McCoy tweeted the following regarding his condition Saturday and noted he has no broken bones or fractures:

Last season saw McCoy's first taste of on-field action for the Gators after redshirting in 2015 due to a transfer from NC State.
He appeared in seven contests and made four starts for a Florida team that went 9-4 and reached the SEC Championship Game.
