Kelsey Plum to Stars: Twitter Reacts as Guard Is Selected in 2017 WNBA Draft
Kelsey Plum shattered the record books during her time with the Washington Huskies, and she'll look to do the same in the pros after she was selected first overall by the San Antonio Stars in Thursday night's WNBA draft.
Along with the Stars, the Huskies celebrated Plum's achievement shortly after the announcement was made:

The WNBA provided a look at the moment Plum learned she was headed to San Antonio:
As ESPN Stats & Info illustrated, it wasn't a surprise that Plum—and her hardware-laden resume—came off the board first:
ESPN's Kevin Pelton later noted the Huskies could dominate the top of the WNBA and NBA drafts this year thanks to Thursday's move by the Stars and Markelle Fultz's status as a possible No. 1 selection in June:
Speaking of Fultz, the NBA-bound floor general sent Plum a congratulatory message Thursday evening:
As far as Plum's fit with the Stars is concerned, she should be able to elevate their offense to new heights following a disappointing 2016 season.
According to the league's statistical database, the Stars ranked dead last in offensive rating with a tally of 93.2. To put that number in perspective, the second-worst mark belongs to the New York Liberty and clocked in 7.1 points higher at 100.3.
En route to a 7-27 finish, the Stars shot 40.5 percent from the field and 29.9 percent from three. Those marks both ranked 11th overall.
But with Plum in tow, those numbers figure to creep toward the league average next season. Not only is she the NCAA's all-time scoring leader, but she also proved to be a deft distributor who could open things up for her teammates.
"She has a singular focus to strive for excellence," former Washington head coach Mike Neighbors said, per ESPN.com's Mechelle Voepel.
With the Stars, the story should stay the same.
