Premier League Darts 2017 Results: Adrian Lewis, Gary Anderson Score Wins

James DudkoApr 13, 2017

Michael van Gerwen battled back from 5-1 down to take a point against Peter Wright on night 11 of the 2017 Premier League Darts at Liverpool's Echo Arena and stay top of the table.

MVG had to share points, as did Gary Anderson in his match against Dave Chisnall. However, the Flying Scotsman completed his night by emphatically beating countryman Wright in their second match of the evening, allowing Anderson to jump from sixth to third in the table.

There were also big wins for Adrian Lewis and James Wade, against Raymond van Barneveld and Phil Taylor, respectively.

Recap

Chisnall twice broke throw to create a 3-1 lead over Anderson. But the Flying Scotsman battled back, eventually taking out 88 to even things at three legs apiece.

Chinsall was not easily deterred, though, and kept things close at 5-4. He then enjoyed a moment of fortune to help draw level, per Live Darts:

Anderson was scoring well but proved erratic when aiming for doubles. A series of significant misses let Chisnall earn a point after the latter checked out on 74.

While Anderson couldn't hit the doubles, Chisnall calmly found double eight to guarantee his point.

Yet Chisnall inexplicably fluffed his lines three times when needing double 10 to secure an outright win. Those gaffes let Anderson battle back to snatch a point of his own.

Wright got off to an excellent start against MVG, when he used a break of throw and a 108 checkout to open up a 2-0 lead. Another break made things worse for Mighty Mike as Snakebite went 3-0 ahead.

As Van Gerwen stumbled, Wright continued to roll:

Hitting double eight at last got Van Gerwen into it. He soon made it two legs out of three by landing tops.

The difference between the two players was summed up by these numbers from PDC Darts:

MVG did find a double when he hit double six to close the gap to two, before Wright secured a point thanks to double eight. Being on the brink of defeat woke Van Gerwen up, and he broke throw to spark a three-leg revival to claim the unlikeliest point.

There was no sharing of the spoils between Lewis and Van Barneveld. In fact, Jackpot stormed to an impressive 7-4 win, one capped by a terrific nine-darter.

Lewis simply piled on the points in front of the Liverpool crowd:

Afterwards, Lewis was rightly bullish about the quality of his performance, per Live Darts:

Double 16 gave Taylor the first leg against Wade, before a double eight broke throw to make it 2-0 to the Power. Wade answered in style, taking out 64, then hitting double 10 to bring the scores level.

It was level again at 3-3 before Taylor made his move. He pinned double four, then completed a 96 checkout to take the next two legs.

Yet Wade still refused to be denied. His comeback earned him at least a point once he completed a 120 checkout to make it 6-5.

The Machine soon wrapped things up to leave Taylor crestfallen.

Snakebite went one up against Anderson after completing a 116 checkout to get the night's final match started in style. Anderson soon rallied, though, thanks to a double 10.

It was 2-2 when Wright missed on bull to lose the chance to move ahead, leaving Anderson to seize his moment by taking tops. He was 4-2 ahead holding throw, then 5-2 in front after finding double 18.

A 126 checkout, followed by double 14, wrapped up an emphatic win for Anderson. His prolific form at the oche had overwhelmed Wright:

The Flying Scotsman has served notice about his ability to win the tournament. Meanwhile, Van Gerwen's slip won't be too costly if he wins his game in hand.
