Liverpool Transfer News: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Fee Revealed Amid Fresh Rumours

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly stepping up his pursuit of Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain despite the revelation of the Gunners' £35 million valuation of the midfielder.

According to James Ducker in the Telegraph, Liverpool are "eager to exploit" the fact Arsenal have yet to open talks with the Englishman over a new deal despite his contract expiring in 2018.

Ducker added the Reds are confident they could snap up Oxlade-Chamberlain for under his £35 million valuation given his contract situation and believe he could be open to a move to Anfield.

Klopp previously denied his club any interest in Oxlade-Chamberlain, but reports have continued to link the England international to the Merseyside giants:

The volatile situation at the Emirates Stadium could cause a summer of upheaval, with manager Arsene Wenger's future in even greater doubt following Monday's 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace, per Sami Mokbel in the Daily Mail.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 23, is still not a guaranteed starter in the Arsenal side despite having been at the club since 2011.

He has made 25 Premier League appearances in 2016-17, but 13 have come from the bench, per WhoScored.com.

He has been played in numerous positions, taking up on either flank as well as in both deep and advanced roles in the middle of the park.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's versatility is likely a key attraction for Klopp and Liverpool. 

The Reds lack depth throughout their squad, and the England international could both increase their options in the engine room and cover for the likes of Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane.

He has proved he can be disciplined defensively recently while taking up a deeper-lying role, but his forte remains his attacking dynamism, even against the best sides, per WhoScored.com:

If Klopp can convince Oxlade-Chamberlain that he will have a key role to play at Liverpool, there is a possibility he could leave Arsenal for the Reds this summer.

The Gunners will not want to see him leave for free when his contract expires in June 2018, so if Liverpool make a decent offer, Arsenal could be persuaded to cash in.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's career has stalled somewhat, as he has failed to make good on the enormous potential he showed as a teenager. He may well see the chance to work under Klopp as an opportunity to prove he is still a major talent.
