Josh Gordon Appears to Indicate Desire to Part Ways with Browns

Andrew GouldApr 11, 2017

Josh Gordon's days with the Cleveland Browns appear numbered, and he may have burned the bridge with some suggestive social media posts Monday.

The 25-year-old wide receiver—who compiled 1,646 receiving yards in 2013—has not played since 2014 due to multiple suspensions for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. He remains indefinitely suspended from the NFL but has applied for reinstatement

Early last season, per Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer, Browns head coach Hue Jackson dismissed the possibility of giving Gordon another chance.

"What's best for our football team is that we move forward and move on," Jackson said. "He's not going to be with us and we wish him well, but we're moving forward. We're going to move on.''

Six months later, Gordon acknowledged that he is not wanted in Cleveland on Snapchat, per Perform Media's Jordan Heck:

Based on the above (since deleted) post that featured Browns apparel accompanied by a slew of emojis with negative connotations, the feeling seems mutual. A broad Twitter message from Gordon could also apply to his finding a clean slate elsewhere:

Gordon's tenure in Cleveland appeared over long before Monday's round of posts, but he probably sealed that fate.
