Former Alabama QB AJ McCarron Opening 'Ajian Sushi' in Tuscaloosa

Thomas DuffyApr 10, 2017

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback and former Alabama Crimson Tide star AJ McCarron is opening a build-your-own sushi bar called "Ajian Sushi" in Tuscaloosa.

The idea came from co-owner Pete Zimmer, who has 30 years of restaurant experience, per Christina Ausley of the Crimson White. Zimmer's son is a sophomore at Alabama, and Zimmer met McCarron through Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson, an investor in Ajian Sushi.

McCarron, who won back-to-back national titles under Nick Saban, seems likely to attract a crowd of Alabama fans on name value alone. He tweeted about the venture in March:

Ajian Sushi is projected to open June 1. McCarron and Zimmer hope it's the first of 10 restaurants in Alabama.
