Antoine Griezmann Rumoured to Snub Real Madrid Transfer, Re-Sign with Atletico
Antoine Griezmann will reportedly sign a new and improved contract with Atletico Madrid, snubbing a move to rivals Real Madrid in the process.
According to Spanish outlets El Pais and AS, the France international will see his wages increase from €7 million to roughly €10 million. His release clause will see an increase as well, making it harder for interested clubs to pry him away from the Rojiblancos.
Per the report, Griezmann sent shock waves through the Atletico fanbase after Saturday's draw against Real, when he refused to rule out a move to Los Blancos: "Play for Real Madrid? I can't rule anything out"

The former Real Sociedad man has been linked with a number of top clubs, most notably Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, per Alex Porter of the Manchester Evening News. The links to Real have been more recent, and a transfer to Atletico's bitter rivals has always seemed unlikely.
Manager Diego Simeone did admit his star forward could depart the club in the summer, per AS (h/t Porter). He pointed at the buyout clause―which is mandatory in Spain―as the main reason.
