Jordan Spieth Scores a Quadruple Bogey in Masters' Opening Round
Andrew GouldApr 6, 2017
Jordan Spieth started the 2017 Masters in rough fashion, recording a quadruple bogey (four over par) on Thursday's 15th hole.
With two birdies and bogeys apiece, the 2015 champion had an even score at Augusta through 14. The tournament's Twitter page showed the second birdie that boosted his day's overall score to one-under:
Two holes later, the PGA Tour's No. 6-ranked golfer unraveled. He needed nine strokes to send the ball home.
Spieth recovered with a 16th-hole birdie, but the quadruple bogey sent him tumbling down the Masters leaderboard. It's a far cry from his last two opening rounds, when he submitted scores of 64 and 66 in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
