DeAndre Levy Undergoes New Surgery on Knee Injury
Former Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy confirmed Thursday he recently underwent a second knee surgery after a meniscus tear limited him to five appearances in 2016.
According to the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett, Levy said in a text message the most recent procedure was "a retouch up on the meniscus and some other damage."
"There was more going on than I was being told," Levy added. "I can't say what this means for free agency. My main focus is to actually heal and get healthy under trusted physicians."

Birkett also relayed a screenshot from Levy's Instagram story that appeared to show the linebacker on crutches after surgery:
Levy, 30, was previously the heart of Detroit's defense—and he put together the finest season of his career in 2014 when he racked up 155 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and five defended passes en route to an 11-5 finish.
The Lions rewarded Levy with a four-year extension valued at $33.7 million, including $20 million guaranteed, but injuries proceeded to plague the remainder of his time in the Motor City.
All told, Levy made six regular season appearances combined in 2015 and 2016 due to knee, hip and quad ailments.
Now looking for work after getting cut in early March, Levy will have to rehabilitate and prove to prospective employers he can still provide value as a rotational piece at the second level.
