Adam WellsApr 6, 2017

Despite suffering a back injury Wednesday, Dustin Johnson will attempt to play in the 2017 Masters when he is scheduled to tee off at 2:03 p.m. at Augusta National Golf Course.

Per James Duthie of TSN.ca, Johnson's agent confirmed his client will play on Thursday at the Masters.

Johnson injured his back Wednesday when he slipped on bare wooden steps at the house he is renting near the course in Augusta, his trainer Joey Diovisalvi told Masters Radio on SiriusXM.

Golf.com reported on Twitter that Johnson did go back into the clubhouse Thursday afternoon for treatment on his back after taking practice swings leading up to his tee time.

Johnson has risen to the top of the world rankings thanks to a dominant start to 2017. The 32-year-old has won each of his last three events played, but he's still in search of his first-career win at the Masters after finishing tied for fourth in 2016.
