Lingard has been a steady contributor under manager Jose Mourinho this season.
Per WhoScored.com, the 24-year-old has already scored twice in the UEFA Europa League this season.
Lingard joined United's youth setup in 2000 and has been a regular member of the senior squad since 2015, returning to Old Trafford after several loan spells. He's also featured for England's national team, although he hasn't been used much on the international level.
The tricky winger hasn't set the world alight during his United career so far, but ESPN FC's Alex Shaw understood the logic behind the new contract:
For a club like United, who have massive financial reserves, £100,000 per week for a homegrown player yet to hit his prime isn't something to worry about.
Some fans may question what Lingard has done to earn the type of contract most clubs couldn't even hand to their best player, but that will be the least of United's concerns.
