'Jeopardy!' Contestant Messes Up Question About NBA Mascots
Jeopardy! contestants must absorb an abundance of information before competing on the long-running game show. With so many things to know, sports can easily fall by the wayside.
For NBA fans, Wednesday night's Final Jeopardy clue was a layup. When presented with, "The animal on this NBA team's primary logo peaked about 75 million years ago," they would wager everything on "Who are the Toronto Raptors?"
One contestant unfortunately bet all of her $17,200 on the timber wolf, an animal that is not extinct.
At first, it's excusable as a random guess from someone with a limited NBA scope who named the only animal mascot that came to mind. Yet that process should not have yielded a maximum wager.
The Raptors Nation Twitter account expressed its disapproval, but it's hard to match the disappointment in Alex Trebek's voice when her earnings dropped to zero.
