Rory McIlroy, Nike Agree to 10-Year Contract Extension
Rory McIlroy has extended his endorsement contract with Nike, agreeing to stay with the sportswear giant for a further 10 years.
The deal comes off the back of the company's decision to exit the golf-equipment market last year, but the superstar will continue with Nike for the next decade, according to Ryan Lavner of the Golf Channel.
According to Lavner, the 27-year-old expressed his satisfaction and delight at the new deal.
"I’ve loved this company since I was a kid," McIlroy said in a statement announcing the fresh extension. "I’m really happy to continue this journey with Nike."
Full financial terms were not announced by either party, but the golfer told ESPN's Marty Smith the length of the new agreement, per Lavner.
The announcement coincides with McIlroy's efforts to capture the U.S. Masters title as Englishman Danny Willett attempts to defend his crown at the Augusta National Golf Club.
