MMA Fighter Nails Slick Jumping Knee-to-Guillotine Combination in Kazakhstan

Steven RondinaApr 2, 2017

When a fighter hurts his opponent with strikes, they tend to try to finish the fight with strikes.

It's logical. However it does run the risk of sapping the gas tank and, if a fighter lacks discipline, can easily see the tables turn.

An interesting trend has popped up in the cage in recent weeks, however, which has seen fighters crack opponents, then tying them up with submission holds to end the contest.

Last month, Gunnar Nelson beat Alan Jouban in this way, staggering him with punches before choking him out.

This week? Hot Russian prospect Said Nurmagomedov (9-1) pulled off the silky smooth guillotine you see above on Saturday night at WFCA 35.

It was an impressive performance and a great technique. It will be interesting to see if more fighters attempt those fluid strikes-to-submission combos as time goes on.
