Bordeaux forward and reported Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United transfer target Malcom has said he remains focused on his current club and immediate future amid rumours linking him with a Premier League move.
As reported by Tauan Ambrosio of Goal, the 20-year-old said he prefers not to address the speculation until an actual offer arrives and his mind is on Bordeaux right now:
I'm very chilled out. I'm only thinking about Bordeaux. I have contract until 2020, this is a matter for my family and Fernando Garcia [his agent]. I'm very focused on what I want, on the work I'm doing.
I don't know how it would be if this chance appears. For now I'm focused on doing a great job here this season.
He also spoke about his chances of making Brazil's squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia:
I will work for this. I'll wait for Tite to look at me in a different way so, who knows, I might have an opportunity with the Selecao.
Work and dedication will always be present to reach this main goal. And if I'm not on the list in the end, I'll just keep going with my work thinking that one day my time will come.
Malcom surprised a lot of scouts and pundits when he moved to Bordeaux last summer, opting not to sign for one of Europe's top clubs like compatriots Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Barbosa.
The Corinthians star had been a well-known talent for some time, sitting just behind the duo in the pecking order. Like Jesus, he's impressed since arriving in Europe, making a nice transition to the French game.
Here's a look at some of his highlights:
The explosive winger is a regular starter for Bordeaux in Ligue 1 and has scored five goals in the competition already. More importantly, he's been a consistent source of danger with his dribbling ability and remarkable speed, creating a ton of chances for his team-mates.
Malcom is a rare athlete who combines both short-area quickness and tremendous long speed, making him just as effective on the counter-attack as he is in a possession-based system. He can run like the wind but also has a fine eye for a pass and the ability to finish chances.
Scouted Football are fans and highlighted him alongside the highly rated Kylian Mbappe as players to watch in the recent clash between Bordeaux and AS Monaco:
Malcom is in a perfect place to continue his development right now, and he's not expected to leave Bordeaux during the summer. He has tremendous athletic gifts but isn't as developed as compatriot Jesus at this stage of his career, and a move to a top club may come too soon.
He could be a target for the likes of City if he could stay on loan with Bordeaux for another season, aiding his development ahead of a permanent switch to the Etihad Stadium. Jesus also spent some time in Brazil on loan after his transfer became official―a similar approach could be in store for Malcom.
