Malik Hooker Says He Won't Attend NFL Draft, Will Watch with Friends and Family
Top safety prospect Malik Hooker will celebrate the 2017 NFL draft by watching it on television with a group of family and friends.
During an appearance on PFT Live (via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk), Hooker said he has decided against attending the draft in Philadelphia on April 27.
Hooker becomes the second high-profile player to decline an invite to the NFL draft. Presumptive No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett has also said he will watch the event from home.
The NFL invites players expected to be taken in the first round to the draft ceremony. They are given the opportunity to walk on stage, shake the commissioner's hand and get their picture taken with the jersey of their new team.
Hooker is a projected top-10 pick, with B/R's Matt Miller having the Ohio State product going to the Los Angeles Chargers with the seventh overall selection in his latest mock.
