Giant Alligator Walks onto Golf Course During Celebrity Invitational Tournament

An enormous alligator meandered onto the River Course on Kiawah Island in South Carolina on Monday, interrupting play during the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic's 10th annual Celebrity Golf Invitational, according to Julia Jacobo of ABC News.

"A representative for The Kiawah Island Club told ABC News that gators often walk onto the courses before retreating back to the ponds," per Jacobo.

Though alligators wandering onto golf courses is nothing new, it's not to be taken lightly.

The players did not initially notice the creature ambling their way, as Carrie Moores—a marketing and communications specialist for the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic—told Jacobo, but once she notified them of the gator they "they hopped in their carts to zoom off."
