Elite XC Primetime Awards
It has been three days since the Elite XC event at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and I have yet to utter a word about any of the other fights on the card.ย Some quick thoughts: Fight of the Night โ Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith Runner Up- Gina Carano vs. Kaitlin Young Biggest Disappointment โ Kimbo Sliceโs inability to knockout Thompson early in the fight.ย A close 2ndย would be Phil Baroni getting TKOโd so quickly.ย Most annoying part of the event โ The dancers that seemed to be dancing all the time, it got really irritating.ย Best Part of the Event for a Reporter-ย The food was great, I had some seared tuna and some salad.ย I definitely was not expecting seared tuna.ย Most exciting moment โ When Kimbo Slice and Brett Rogers nearly got into a fight at the press conference. Quote of the Night- Gina Carano: โI would rather go home with a couple of bruises and a couple of pains then deal with some bullshit from a boss or the outside world.โ Most interesting fact โ Gina Caranoโs father, Glenn, played quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Left me dumbfounded โ Kimbo Slice blamed his lack of cardio, in part to smoking. Feel Good Moment โ When Gary Shaw announced that John Murphy, who usually has long hair, donated his locks to kids with cancer. ย ย The ratings - 4.3 million viewers on average tuned into the event on CBS.ย CBS experienced a 33 percent increase in its target audience, the 18-30 male demographic.ย From experience, it would seem that the ratings would decline 20 to 25 percent for the next event. .ย
