Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported the potential sale of the Panthers was a possible discussion topic at this week's owners' meetings.
The report cited owner Jerry Richardson's age (80) and health issues as reasons why the team could be sold in the near future.
Richardson's children are not involved with the franchise.

Richardson has owned the Panthers since their inception in 1995. Previous reports indicated Richardson wanted the team sold after his death but only to individuals who would keep it in North Carolina.
