Chelsea Transfer News: Billy Gilmour Agreement with Rangers, Fresh Blues Rumours

Matt JonesMar 26, 2017

Chelsea have reportedly beaten Manchester City to the signing of Rangers youngster Billy Gilmour.

According to Nizaar Kinsella of Goal, the 15-year-old will make the switch to the Blues for around £500,000 in the summer. In the report, it's noted that as well as Chelsea and City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Barcelona were also tracking the youngster's progress.

As the player noted himself on social media, despite his tender years, he's been training with the Scottish Premiership side's first team:

"Gilmour put in a string of incredible performances for his club in the under-20s side and for his country in the Victory Shield but had long before then been of interest to Europe's elite clubs," Kinsella added.

It's noted in the report that the teenager was expected to become Rangers' youngest-ever first-team player, although a move to the Premier League side will likely prevent him from doing so.

Gilmour will turn 16 on June 11 and will be able to move clubs in the summer as a result.

Chelsea Agree Tiemoue Bakayoko Deal

Chelsea have agreed a £35 million deal with AS Monaco for the signing of combative midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

That's according to Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Liam Spence of the Daily Express), where it's said the Blues have agreed personal terms with the player, who will sign a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge. In the report, it's suggested that Manchester United are also interested in landing the 22-year-old.

Bakayoko has been at the heart of a Monaco side that have excelled this season, with the team into the last eight of the UEFA Champions League and leading the way in Ligue 1.

Here is a look at what he can offer:

Monaco have been revered for the verve they've showcased in attack so far this season, with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva and Radamel Falcao catching the eye in particular. Bakayoko may be more about spoiling than scoring, but he still has a crucial role to play.

Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe recently hailed the talents of the midfielder, suggesting he'd be a big hit at United:

It's easy to see him succeeding at Stamford Bridge, too. Manager Antonio Conte demands that his midfield players be tenacious and industrious in the middle of the park, and those are areas in which the Monaco man excels.

Indeed, the prospect of Bakayoko linking up with N'Golo Kante in midfield is an ominous one for the rest of the Premier League. Chelsea fans will be desperate to see this one come off as a result.
