Andy Murray's Elbow Injury Likely to Keep Him out of Davis Cup Quarter-Final
Tennis star Andy Murray is major doubt for Great Britain's Davis Cup quarter-final clash with France due to an elbow problem.
Murray's brother Jamie told The Times (h/t Press Association Sport, via ESPN) about the problem the world No. 1 was suffering with ahead of next week's tie.
"It's some sort of tear in his elbow, so he needs to rest," he said. "He said he can do everything except serve and he told me that rest was all he had to do. I am not planning that he is going be there [against France] but, if he is, then obviously that is great for the team and we'll see what happens."
This is another setback for Murray after the elbow injury forced him to withdraw from the Miami Open.
When healthy, Murray is one of the top competitors in the sport and typically factors into the title discussions at every major event. His 2016 season was especially impressive and featured a gold medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics and a Wimbledon title. He also reached the finals at the Australian Open and French Open.
Murray bounced back from setbacks in the past and will have to do so again as he strives to add more major championships to his already sterling resume.
