Larry Sanders Assigned to Canton Charge in D-League by Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers assigned center Larry Sanders to the Canton Charge—their NBA D-League affiliate—on Sunday, according to Fox Sports Ohio's Sam Amico.
Sanders was previously assigned to the Charge on March 15, according to Amico, but the Cavaliers recalled him a day later.
Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon reported Friday that Cavaliers general manager David Griffin said Sanders had been recalled "essentially to get a few days around the Cavs."
The shuttling back and forth was to be expected, though. NBA.com's David Aldridge reported March 13 that Cleveland's goal was to have Sanders ready for the playoffs.
Since signing with the Wine and Gold, Sanders has appeared in two games for a total of four minutes. During that brief stretch, he has attempted one shot, has committed two fouls and has not registered a point or rebound.
But once Sanders gets his legs under him, he could prove to be a valuable asset in coach Tyronn Lue's rotation. The Cavaliers have sputtered on defense lately and are allowing opponents to shoot 59.7 percent at the rim in March, which ranks 28th in the NBA.
