On Monday, the NFL issued a statement confirming Brady's jerseys from Super Bowl 49 and 51 had been recovered.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, who originally reported that Brady's jersey was found, showed video of the suspected thief during an appearance on The Herd With Colin Cowherd:

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the suspect is Mauricio Ortega, who was a former executive with Mexican newspaper La Prensa.

Brady issued a statement of his own on Monday, per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network:

"

I am happy my jerseys from SB 49 and SB 51 have been recovered, and I want to thank all of the law enforcement agencies involved. I know they worked hard on this case – and it is very much appreciated. Hopefully when I get the jerseys back I can make something very positive come from this experience.

"

Brady was named MVP of both Super Bowl wins. He helped engineer the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history when the Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 after trailing by 25 points in the third quarter of Super Bowl 51.

The Patriots' win marked their fifth Super Bowl title since 2001, with Brady becoming the first starting quarterback in NFL history to win five Super Bowls.
