Oregon took several body blows from hard-charging Michigan, but the Ducks withstood every one of them and delivered the final punch as they earned a trip to the Elite Eight with a 69-68 victory at the Spirit Center in Kansas City.

The game was tight all the way through as both sides had answers for scoring runs. Jordan Bell had a double-double for the Ducks with 16 points and 13 rebounds, and he also had this powerful first-half dunk.

The key to Oregon's win was Tyler Dorsey, who scored the go-ahead layup with 1:08 remaining and scored 20 points in the game. He has scored 20 or more in six straight games.

Michigan was led by Derrick Walton Jr., who had 20 points and eight assists. He fired a long jumper just before the final buzzer, but it hit the rim and bounded away to end the Wolverines' season.

Gonzaga 61, West Virginia 58

It's fitting that Gonzaga survived its defensive struggle with West Virginia in the Sweet 16 game by a 61-58 margin in San Jose, California. The Bulldogs have been one of the top defensive teams in the nation all year, and head coach Mark Few's team turned up the defensive pressure on the final possession of the game.

The Mountaineers were able to get off two shots and corral the rebound each time. The second offensive rebound came with more than 10 seconds remaining, but West Virginia wasted the opportunity by not even getting a shot off as a result of Gonzaga's hounding pressure.

Jordan Mathews hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 58 seconds remaining, and he was one of three Bulldogs to lead the team with 13 points. He was joined by Johnathan Williams and Przemek Karnowski.

The Mountaineers were led by junior guard Jevon Carter, who scored 21 points and hit four three-point shots.

Kansas 98, Purdue 66

Is there a hotter team in the nation than the Kansas Jayhawks? After whipping the Big Ten's Michigan State last Sunday, they took care of the league champion Purdue Boilermakers Thursday in Kansas City with a 32-point trouncing.

The Boilermakers got off to a strong start and led by eight points in the first half, but once the Jayhawks warmed to the task late in the first half, they pulled away from a tough-minded Purdue team that could not match Kansas' high level of play.

Josh Jackson demonstrated his talent, athleticism and ability to put his signature on a game as he scored 15 points, and he did it in spectacular fashion. Senior Frank Mason III once again showed off his explosive quickness when going to the hoop and tied teammate Devonte' Graham for the scoring lead in the game with 26 points.

Xavier 73, Arizona 71

In a back-and-forth game that saw both teams exchange scoring haymakers, the Xavier Musketeers overcame a 12-0 run in the latter stages of the second half and bounced back with a narrow victory over the favored Wildcats.

Instead of folding when trailing by eight points, the Musketeers closed the game on a 12-2 run to advance to the Elite Eight.

Trevon Bluiett scored 25 points to lead the Musketeers, while J.P. Macura had a huge impact with 14 points and seven rebounds. However, the biggest contribution came from from 6'10" forward Sean O'Mara, who scored the game-winning layup and then came down with the rebound of Arizona's final shot.

Star guard Allonzo Trier keyed Arizona's late surge and finished as the Wildcats' leading scorer with 19 points and nine rebounds.
