Eden Hazard's Ankle Injury Diagnosed as Fracture, Could Miss 6-8 Weeks
June 4, 2017
Chelsea star Eden Hazard has been dealt a major blow after he picked up an ankle injury while training on international duty with Belgium on Sunday.
Sky Sports News HQ reported the nature of the 26-year-old's injury:
The injury was also confirmed by the Belgium national team after tests were performed. It will obviously rule Hazard out of his country's friendly against the Czech Republic on Monday and Friday's 2018 World Cup qualifier in Estonia.
The problem rates as a significant setback for a player coming off an outstanding season at club level. Hazard scored 17 times to help Chelsea win the Premier League title and reach the FA Cup final, per WhoScored.com.
He has also remained a transfer target for La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid. The Sun's Martin Lipton reported Los Blancos are even willing to pay £100 million to sign Hazard.
Chelsea's No. 10 recently revealed he would listen to offers from the Spanish giants, per Sky Sports. However, any thoughts of a transfer will naturally be postponed while Hazard recovers.
