Terence Crawford vs. Felix Diaz Fight Date, Venue and TV Info Announced
Unified junior welterweight Terence Crawford will face Felix Diaz on May 20 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.
"All material terms are agreed to," according to Diaz's promoter, Lou DiBella. "We are waiting for the paperwork."
The fight will be broadcast on HBO.
Crawford comes into the fight 30-0 with 21 knockouts. While few boxers can offer a similar resume, Diaz is still an impressive 19-1 with nine knockouts. He also won gold at the 2008 Olympics.
He became the opponent after several other contenders fell through. As Rafael noted, "Antonio Orozco has another fight scheduled for April 1, Amir Imam was unacceptable to HBO and Adrian Granados, coming off a grueling loss to Adrien Broner in February, was not available for May 20."
Crawford was found guilty of disorderly conduct and property damage and sentenced to 90 days in prison for an incident in 2016, though that case is currently being appealed, according to WOWT.com.
