Arsenal Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Kylian Mbappe and Leon Goretzka

The rumours surrounding AS Monaco starlet and reported Arsenal transfer target Kylian Mbappe continue to swirl, with the latest reports suggesting Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a monster bid for the teenager. Meanwhile, Schalke's Leon Goretzka is being linked with the Gunners and Juventus.

Mbappe has been a constant topic of transfer rumours since his strong showing against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League. While the British press has gone into overdrive linking the 18-year-old with the Premier League, French outlets say he could stay close to home.

According to Le Parisien (h/t Metro's Mark Brus), PSG are willing to pay up to £78 million to land the star forward, a much bigger fee than Monaco received from Manchester United for Anthony Martial in 2015.

PSG reportedly see Mbappe as the next big thing, but the move would also weaken a direct rival. Monaco have kept the Ligue 1 title race very close this season, and unlike their rivals, they're still active in Europe.

The player himself has so far played down the persistent rumours, as reported by Metro's Louis Sealey:

"

I do not look at what the English press say. I remain very calm around this attention I get. I get up in the morning and I go to practice [train] like everyone else. I try to work to improve myself every day and I try to do on the pitch what I do in training.

"

Mbappe's scoring record since the turn of the year has been phenomenal, and coupled with his performances against City on the brightest stage in Europe, it's easy to see why teams are said to be queueing up to sign him.

As shared by the Associated Press' Jerome Pugmire, he can't stop scoring right now:

Here's a look at some of his highlights:

The youngster is the flavour of the month, and outlets all over the continent can't seem to get enough of him. But as of right now, there's no reason to believe Mbappe will leave Monaco―who have an excellent reputation for nurturing talent―or is interested in a move to England.

If given the choice, Monaco would undoubtedly prefer to sell to a foreign team rather than rivals PSG, who have dominated Ligue 1 for years and already boast an impressive amount of young attacking talent waiting in the wings.

Meanwhile, Bild (h/t Metro's Mark Brus) have reported that Arsenal and Juventus are tracking Goretzka, Schalke's young midfielder who is expected to leave his current club soon due to his contract situation. The German has yet to sign a new deal, with his current contract keeping him in Gelsenkirchen until 2018.

The 22-year-old has long been touted as one of the Bundesliga's brightest young stars, and he's been steadily improving with Schalke. As shared by OptaFranz, he's added an ability to score to his arsenal this season:

Juventus are almost certain to spend on a new central midfielder, a position that has lacked depth since the departure of Paul Pogba. Arsenal could also use an upgrade, although manager Arsene Wenger may not be ready to give up on transfer flop Granit Xhaka after just one season.
