Manchester City Transfer News: Latest Joshua Kimmich and Faouzi Ghoulam Rumours
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has dealt a major blow to Manchester City's hopes of landing Joshua Kimmich after assuring the player he will receive more playing minutes next season.
Speaking to German broadcaster Sky Sport (h/t Goal's Joe Wright), Rummenigge moved to quieten speculation Kimmish could leave the Allianz Arena after recently expressing dissatisfaction with his lack of match time:
"We have big plans for him in the future," Rummenigge said. "He will be, quite literally, our successor to Philipp Lahm. From next season, he'll get more and more minutes. That's Carlo Ancelotti's plan, at least."

Bleacher Report's Lars Pollmann presented an alternative view to the player, however, and recently voiced his belief the 22-year-old receives sufficient playing time for his age, one factor that's sure to appeal to City boss Pep Guardiola:
Kimmich has been tipped for a bright future at Der FCB after excelling both as a central midfielder and in a right-back role when called upon, having joined Bayern from Red Bull Leipzig in January 2015.
The Germany international recently spoke to the media and opened up on what he apparently feels is a lack of prominence in Bavaria, with City presumably hoping to provide a superior alternative, per the Mirror's Alex Richards:
"It does not matter whether I understand it or not. The fact is I'm not satisfied with it and I want to change it.
The coach knows I can play as a number six and at right-back, also in the centre of defence. From that he has many options to use me."I know my weaknesses and work on them – especially when I'm not playing, I try to do more. In the Bundesliga we have a good lead now and maybe [the team] will be rotated.
"
Rummenigge has reacted swiftly in hushing any talk of a potential exit from the Allianz, however, with Kimmich seemingly too valuable an asset to be allowed to leave the Bavarian club.
What's more, there's the sense Kimmich himself would prefer to remain in manager Carlo Ancelotti's side if his expectations were met, and the club's official Twitter account recently posted quotes detailing his connection:
Elsewhere, Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam is said to be the subject of a €13 million (£11.3 million) offer from City, according to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Football Italia).
That same report mentioned Ghoulam will not extend his contract at Napoli, with his current deal set to expire next summer, and Calciomercato reported a recent change in representation could signal his intentions.
The Algeria international moved to the Stadio San Paolo in 2014 and has developed a renown as one of Serie A's most respected full-backs, recording seven assists in 29 appearances for the Azzurri this season.
If Napoli decide to cash in this summer rather than allow the 26-year-old to run into the final season of his contract, City may be able to purchase the defensive upgrade for a cut-price fee.
