Kawhi Leonard Nets Spurs' Most Single-Season 30-Point Games Since David Robinson
San Antonio Spurs superstar forward Kawhi Leonard notched 31 points in Monday's game against the Atlanta Hawks, marking the 24th time this season he's surpassed the total.
Leonard's scoring frenzy represents the most times a Spurs player has topped the 30-point mark in over 20 years, per ESPN Stats & Info. The Admiral David Robinson did so 24 times in the 1990-91 season, placing the duo in a two-way tie for the ninth-most for a single campaign in team history.
Robinson's best scoring season came in 1993-94, when he totaled at least 30 points 41 different times, per Basketball Reference. George Gervin dominates the category for the Spurs, owning the top two seasons outright with 52 and 47 such games. He also equaled Robinson's 41 to place them in a tie for the third-best campaign. Between Gervin and Robinson, the two own 11 of the top 12 spots on the team leaderboard. Spurs great Tim Duncan finished with 20 such games in 2001-02, placing his best year 13th.

Leonard has taken his game to another level in 2016-17 following the retirement of Duncan prior to the season. The sixth-year small forward out of San Diego State averaged a career-high 21.2 points per game last season but has topped that just a year later, averaging 26.3 through 59 games.
Not known only for his offense, Leonard is also considered one the better defenders in the league. He's taken home the Defensive Player of the Year award twice already in his career and owns two All-Defensive First Team honors and one Second Team honor as well.
After beginning his career as a defensive-minded player, he's evolved into an all-around star, making the All-Star Game in each of the last two seasons. Now the centerpiece of the club, Leonard has led the Spurs to a 52-14 record and a tie for the best record in the Western Conference with 16 games remaining.
Should the Spurs secure the top seed, it would mark the first time since 2013-14. The last time San Antonio did so, it parlayed that into the franchise's fifth NBA championship.
