Joe Mixon Reportedly Meeting with Cincinnati Bengals
Oklahoma Sooners running back Joe Mixon is meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals after he was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
According to ESPN.com's Katherine Terrell, Mixon was brought in because "the Bengals want a chance to talk with him extensively about his character."
USA Today's Tom Pelissero reported Mixon was not invited to the combine after video surfaced of him punching a woman in July 2014. The punch reportedly broke the woman's jaw and cheekbone.
Mixon—who totaled 1,812 yards and 15 touchdowns from scrimmage last season—recently participated in Oklahoma's pro day in what was his first opportunity to work out in front of scouts this offseason.
According to USA Today's Lindsay H. Jones, Mixon ran an unofficial 4.43 40-yard dash with representatives from all 32 NFL teams in attendance.
In his post-combine mock draft, Bleacher Report's Matt Miller penciled Mixon in to the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 59 overall.
As things stand, the Bengals will pick ninth overall in the first round and 41st in the second round. They also own pick No. 73 overall, which is the ninth selection in the third round.
With Jeremy Hill set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2017 season, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Bengals target a running back at some point during the draft.
