Golden State Warriors' 100-Point Streak at Home Ends at 56 Games

Bleacher Report MilestonesMar 9, 2017

The Golden State Warriors tipped off Wednesday against the Boston Celtics having scored at least 100 points in each of their previous 56 home games. Unfortunately, that streak came to an end in the club's 99-86 loss, per the Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN.com).

The last time Golden State went without scoring 100 points at home (including playoff games) occurred March 30, 2014, against the New York Knicks. It marked the third-longest streak in franchise history and the longest stretch in the NBA since the Seattle Supersonics did so 62 consecutive times at home between November 1987 and February 1989.

Following the team's loss and a collapse by the Sacramento Kings against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, the Warriors now hold just a 1.5-game lead for the top seed in the Western Conference. They have two more games against the Spurs—both in San Antonio—before the regular season comes to a close.

Golden State has earned the top seed each of the last two seasons, making the NBA Finals in both campaigns. Should they manage to hold on to the top spot, it would likely result in a first-round matchup against a below-.500 team. That would change if they fall behind the Spurs, potentially placing the club in a matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Memphis Grizzlies or the Los Angeles Clippers.

Regardless of the first-round opponent, the Warriors will remain one of the favorites to reach the Finals for a third consecutive season. If they do, there's a decent shot that there will be in a third straight matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
