Jamaal Charles, Seattle Seahawks Rumored to Have Mutual Interest

Mike ChiariMar 9, 2017

Following consecutive injury-plagued seasons, veteran running back Jamaal Charles and the Seattle Seahawks reportedly have mutual interest, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Chiefs released Charles on Feb. 28 after nine seasons.

He had appeared in just eight games over the past two seasons combined due to knee injuries. The 30-year-old rushed for 40 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries in three contests last season.

Charles is a four-time Pro Bowler who averaged at least 5.0 yards per attempt in each of his first eight NFL campaigns; that track record is understandably attractive.

Thomas Rawls is the No. 1 in Seattle, but he missed seven games last season and averaged a paltry 3.2 yards per carry, while C.J. Prosise is more of a receiving back.

Seattle was third in rushing in 2015 and fell to 25th in 2016, due in part to Marshawn Lynch's retirement and injuries in the backfield.
