Katie Lou Samuelson Breaks NCAA Record by Making 10 Threes Without a Miss

Rob GoldbergMar 6, 2017

Katie Lou Samuelson has already put together an impressive year for the Connecticut women's basketball team, but her performance Monday night will stand in the record books for a long time.

The sophomore scored 40 points against South Florida in the American Athletic Conference final, including a 10-of-10 showing from three-point range. Per the NCAA women's basketball twitter account, this was the most makes without a miss in the history of the sport.

Samuelson was 12-of-14 from the field overall and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line in the 100-44 win over the Bulls.

She actually had 40 points through three quarters before coming out of the game, outscoring South Florida 40-33 by herself at the time. According to ESPN Women's Hoops, Nykesha Sales and Maya Moore are the only other players to score 40 points in the storied history of UConn women's basketball.

Samuelson averaged 20.4 points per game this season coming into the day, scoring one less point than teammate Napheesa Collier. The duo is a big reason the team once again goes into the NCAA tournament undefeated with a 32-0 record.

The program now hasn't lost in 107 games, which keeps the pressure high on the team to bring home another title.

If Samuelson can provide anywhere near the performance she produced Monday, the Huskies won't face much competition for the rest of the month.
