High School Basketball Team Wins Playoff Game with 3-Pointer from Half Court

The boys basketball team at Archbishop Moeller High School, a private prep academy in Cincinnati, pulled off a dramatic victory by draining a shot from half court in the closing seconds Saturday night.

With an Ohio High School Athletic Association sectional championship game tied at 51, Isaiah Payton received an inbounds pass and darted upcourt. He had at least a few more seconds to move closer to the basket, but the point guard heaved a running shot from near midcourt. His best Stephen Curry impersonation found the net, and with the clock running, time expired before Withrow High School could procure another possession.

Moeller will face Walnut Hills in an OHSAA district championship contest Saturday at the University of Dayton. The winner will advance to the 16-team state tournament.
