Brandon Marshall, Patriots Reportedly Have 'Mutual Interest'
The New England Patriots and free-agent wide receiver Brandon Marshall reportedly have "mutual interest" following the playmaker's release by the division-rival New York Jets.ย
Ben Volinโ of the Boston Globe reported the potential for Marshall to join the reigning Super Bowl champions Saturday.
The 32-year-old posted this message onย Instagram:ย "I'm sorry we couldn't bring you [Jets] a championship, but I wish you and my former organization the very best in your pursuit for one in the future. "I'm looking forward to finding a great organization where I can contribute and bring home a championship."

No team is better positioned to achieve that than New England. The Patriots are coming off a comeback victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. They completed that playoff run without the services of tight end Rob Gronkowski, one of their most valuable players, who's expected back in 2017.
New England isn't the only team with expected interest in Marshall, though.
Jeff Zrebiecย of theย Baltimore Sunย noted the Baltimore Ravens may "explore" the possibility of adding Marshall.ย Ralph Vacchianoย of SNY expects the New York Giants to consider making a push too.
The Patriots have plenty of resources if they decide to make Marshall a competitive offer:ย $59 million in projected cap space heading into the offseason,ย sixth in the league, perย Spotrac.
Marshall, who recorded 59 receptions for 788 yards and three touchdowns last season, would make the Patriots' already formidable attack even more potent.
