Wednesday Recap

Trump and Davis were both in excellent shape in the earlier sessions as they displayed good form in the unique competition, only available to view via internet streaming.

The champion made a 140 break as he defeated Gilbert 3-0 before being caught off guard by veteran Higgins, losing the match 3-1 as the Scot dominated the table.

Davis' break-building was also evident as he made a 53 in his defeat of Anthony McGill.

Barry Hawkins was steady in the morning as he swept past Davis 3-1, with victories spread out among the players who had made it to the final group stage.

Trump's quality dominated the evening matches as he put Day and Davis to the sword in consecutive contests.

Breaks of 65 and 87 helped him past the finishing post in each encounter as he showed off his quality.

McGill had a difficult morning but redeemed himself as he shocked Hawkins 3-1 late in the day. Hawkins appeared jaded after the long day of matches, and he had run out of steam.

However, he battled back to take the win against Higgins in the final match of the day, grabbing his third victory in the group, setting himself up for a good final day of action.

The matches continue Thursday as the final takes place to declare the champion.
