WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for February 27

Erik BeastonFeb 27, 2017

Just six days before its brand-exclusive pay-per-view event, Fastlane, WWE Raw will emanate from Green Bay, Wisconsin, with an advertised appearance from the injured Seth Rollins.

The Architect's return to Raw headlines a show that will center around the final hype for the March 5 spectacular and the final build to its marquee bouts.

Goldberg and Kevin Owens will be under the same roof ahead of their Universal Championship match Sunday night. Which of the two Superstars will gain the upper hand and, more importantly, momentum before their epic encounter?

WWE.com and social media may not be able to give us that answer, but it can prepare the WWE Universe for what to expect from the Feb. 27 episode of its flagship show.

On Tap

The biggest story leading into Raw is Rollins' return and the impact it will have on the company's WrestleMania plans.

His bout with Triple H was slated to be one of the most important on the card, but his recent MCL tear has put the contest in jeopardy. Whatever happens on Raw—be it a physical altercation with The Game or the announcement that the injury is too severe to compete—will give fans a clearer indication of what they can expect on April 2 in Orlando, Florida.

More urgent, though, is the final touches on the Goldberg-Owens program, which has received minimal build, thanks to inconsistent appearances by the No. 1 contender and, more importantly, an intriguing few developments in Owens' friendship-turned-bitter rivalry with Chris Jericho.

Roman Reigns has been on the receiving end of a beatdown at the hands of Braun Strowman for a number of weeks, left lying in a heap at The Monster Among Men's feet.

Can Reigns rebound and generate even the slightest hint of momentum for himself ahead of the Superstars' massive Fastlane clash, or will Strowman again assert his dominance, leaving real doubts about the former WWE champion's ability to beat him?

A week ago, Enzo Amore and Big Cass earned a shot at the Raw Tag Team Championships, defeating Sheamus and Cesaro to cash their tickets to Fastlane and a shot at Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows' titles. After a big Brogue Kick from The Celtic Warrior to Amore, though, there may be unfinished business between the two fan-favorite tandems.

Could former champions Sheamus and Cesaro find their way into the title bout in some form or fashion come Monday night?

Then there is the rivalry between Bayley and Charlotte Flair, who will compete one more time for the Raw Women's Championship Sunday. Not to mention the ever-present Sasha Banks, who has been at the center of the program. Will fans learn more about her motives Monday?

News, Rumors

News and rumors are both light ahead of this week's broadcast, but an interesting bit of information regarding an all-time great's return to the squared circle broke Monday morning.

MLSE Live tweeted Monday that Triple H will return to the ring for a six-man tag team match on March 11 as part of WWE's Road to WrestleMania tour. That match will take place in Toronto at the Ricoh Coliseum.

He will also compete the night before in Buffalo, New York.

That Triple H is making his annual run to prepare himself for a major WrestleMania bout suggests that Rollins may be ready to go in time for the biggest event of the year. If that is the case, Triple H will understandably want to get himself in ring shape to ensure he does not come across as slow or rusty when the eyes of the wrestling world are watching.

Odds and Ends

Jack Gallagher will challenge Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship at Fastlane, so fans should expect the latest chapter in that story to unfold at some point Monday night.

Just one week after instigating what feels poised to become a rivalry of sorts between it, Rusev and Jinder Mahal, will The New Day's role at the pay-per-view become clearer?

WrestleMania is rapidly approaching, and so is the 2017 Hall of Fame ceremony. Expect a new name to be announced later this afternoon, with a video package officially revealing the recipient of the honor to be attached to Monday's show.

While the hype for Fastlane will be in abundance, it is the unrelated elements of the show that will affect the overall quality of the broadcast, with the strength or weakness of those segments determining whether the Feb. 27 broadcast will be one worth remembering.
