Recap

Spurs needed a positive performance to bounce back from their shock UEFA Europa League exit at the hands of KAA Gent in midweek, and the team delivered, making mincemeat of Stoke in the first half.

ESPN FC's Dan Thomas couldn't help himself:

Kane was the big star once again, bagging a hat-trick in the first half. The fun started after 14 minutes, as the England international reacted quickest to a loose ball. The goal was his 100th for Spurs.

Peter Crouch had a great chance to equalise, and Jan Vertonghen hit the bar before Kane struck again, firing home an outstanding volley.

Just five minutes later, a Kane free-kick took a major deflection, wrong-footing goalkeeper Lee Grant and finding the net.

As shared by WhoScored.com, the 23-year-old often scores in bunches:

Dele Alli, who was the main scapegoat following the exit against Gent due to his silly red card, added a fourth goal before half-time. Stoke were battered, and Spurs barely had to shift gears after the break to preserve the clean sheet and the win.

After the match, Alli weighed in on his red card and Kane's performance, per the club's official Twitter account:

Kane's three goals take him to a total of 17, good for a share of the Premier League lead. Everton's Romelu Lukaku was also on target in Week 26, while Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez wasn't in action, as his team's match was postponed.

Sanchez and his team-mates will take on Southampton at a later date, and Manchester City and Manchester United will also do battle at some point in the future. United and Southampton will contest the EFL Cup final on Sunday.

The Premier League's top scorers' race remains tight, with just two goals separating the top-five players. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sanchez each have a match in hand, but with their current form, it's hard to bet against Diego Costa of Chelsea, Kane and Lukaku.
