Ryan Giggs Compares Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Eric Cantona at Manchester United

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has compared Zlatan Ibrahimovic with former Old Trafford star Eric Cantona.

The Welshman believes Ibrahimovic and his arrival at United are reminiscent of the mercurial Frenchman:

Per Jack Staplehurst of the Express, Giggs added: "Even when they are playing well and getting all the adoration, they don't get carried away. It's their job and you can see that he is a good professional, he is always fit and at his age to play centre-forward and to produce the goals he is producing is unbelievable."

The Swede joined United from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer and despite turning 35 in October has shown little sign of slowing down.

Indeed, in 36 appearances for the Red Devils, he's bagged 24 goals and seven assists.

Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News put his goal tally into context, while Hesham Bilal-Hafiz of the same outlet is hopeful the striker continues his run:

Ibrahimovic has coped admirably with United's packed fixture schedule, as they remain in the UEFA Europa League, the EFL Cup and the FA Cup, and he's played the full 90 minutes in all but four of the matches in which he's played.

Like former United hero Cantona, Ibrahimovic is not only known for his quality on the pitch but his personality off it, per the Europa League's official Twitter feed:

The forward has brought a winning mentality and some much-needed swagger back to Old Trafford, something United lost in the wake of Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013.

While the Premier League looks out of reach for the Red Devils as they sit 12 points behind league leaders Chelsea—who also could knock them out of the FA Cup when they meet at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-final—United are in the final of the EFL Cup and are undoubtedly one of the strongest sides in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

If the club does manage to end the season with silverware and having finished in the top four, that will be in no small part due to Ibrahimovic's contributions.
