American University's Liam Purdy Wins 800M Race After Losing Right Shoe

American University junior Liam Purdy won the men's 800-meter run at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday.

And he did so without a right shoe.

It's unclear when Purdy's kick popped off, but he seized the lead and stayed in front over the final half-lap without it.

After the race, Purdy needed minor medical attention. Winning has a certain healing power to it.
