James Harden Mocks Stephen A. Smith's Missed Jumpers: 'Stick to Your Day Job'
James Harden is paid to play basketball. ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith is paid to yell about basketball.
So it shouldn't surprise anyone that Smith isn't a lethal sharpshooter from behind the arc.
An ESPN one-on-one feature ended with the First Take panelist shooting around with the Houston Rockets All-Star. He air-balled one attempt, and another caromed off the rim.
"I guess it's easier said than done," Harden wrote in an Instagram post, "stick to your day job."
In Smith's defense, he flaunted a solid shooting form for a 49-year-old. But when a leading titan of hot takes falters, it's easy to take a page from Jay Pharoah's impression and say he "should be locked in a small closet where there are no basketballs or any other round objects of any kind."
